Rewild & Reconnect: Why Your Team Needs a Day at Home Farm Glamping

At Home Farm, we're all about helping people reconnect with each other in nature. This winter, we're inviting corporate teams to do exactly that — by swapping the meeting room for muddy wellies and helping us rewild a corner of the Aldenham Estate.

Our Rewild & Reconnect Days run on Thursdays from October to April, just a hop, skip and a tube from central London. Your team gets a day outdoors with purpose. The land gets new trees, hedgerows and habitats. Everyone goes home a little lighter!

What Happens on a Rewild & Reconnect Day?

Your day is led by Rob Hopkins, our Biodiversity Consultant, who spent nearly 19 years as a Reserves Officer with Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust. Rob knows this land inside out, and his enthusiasm is infectious.

We start in the barn with a cup of tea and a briefing: what we're doing, why it matters for wildlife, and how to stay safe. Then it's out onto the estate for hands-on work such as:

  • Planting trees and hedgerows

  • Regenerating woodland

  • Building habitats for birds, insects and small mammals

No experience needed — just wellies, gloves and a willingness to get a bit muddy. Watch our Rewild & Reconnect video to see a day in action. Bring your own lunch, or ask us about arranging catering and transport.

Part of Something Bigger

Your team won't just be planting a few saplings. You'll be adding to a long-term rewilding project across Home Farm. So far that includes more than 3,000 trees planted, new hedgerows, restored "ghost ponds", rewilded grasslands and new wildflower meadows.

We run these days from October to April, outside the bird breeding season, so the work helps wildlife rather than disturbing it.

Why Rewilding Is Good for Your Team

A proper dose of nature

A 2019 study of nearly 20,000 people in England found that those who spent at least 120 minutes a week in nature were significantly more likely to report good health and wellbeing. A full Rewild & Reconnect Day gives your team well over that in a single outing.

Volunteering builds stronger teams

Research drawing on more than 50,000 responses to Britain's Healthiest Workplace survey found that employees who volunteer report better health, lower risk of depression, and higher engagement and job satisfaction. Part of the reason? Volunteering builds stronger bonds with colleagues and a stronger sense of pride in where you work.

Real conversations, away from screens

There's something about working side by side with a spade that gets people talking. Colleagues who rarely cross paths in the office find themselves chatting, laughing and solving problems together. No icebreakers needed.

Impact you can see (and come back to)

Every tree, hedgerow and habitat your team creates stays on the estate. It's a lasting, visible contribution to biodiversity — and a great story for your CSR, ESG or sustainability reporting.

Who Is It For?

Rewild & Reconnect Days work brilliantly for:

  • Team away days — a winter alternative to the summer social

  • CSR and volunteering programmes — many companies offer staff volunteering days; this is an easy, meaningful way to use them

  • Sustainability and ESG teams — hands-on nature recovery you can report on

  • Leadership and project teams — a reset before a big push, or a thank-you after one

With a fixed price for up to 12 people, it's simple to budget for. And because we're just outside London in Elstree, Hertfordshire, it's an easy trip by train or car.
