Nature Walks and Bat Walks with Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust

Explore nature help from Herts & Middlesex Wildlife Trust

We are super excited to have the Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust back at Home Farm in 2024, a local conservation charity that helps people experience the wildlife on their doorsteps and to take steps to protect it. Book nature and bat walks here.

2024 Bat Walks

As the light fades over the meadows join the experts from the Herts & Middlesex Wildlife Trust to discover the bats found at Home Farm Glamping. Using detectors we’ll be able to hear them echo-locating over the trees along the hedgerows and over the lakes seeking out moths and insects for their supper.

Home Farm Glamping donate £3 for every booking you make.

Like us, Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust believe that wildlife should be able to thrive alongside our everyday lives and that everyone is better off when they have access to nature.

Our aim, at Home Farm Glamping, is to take some of the hard work out of reconnecting people with nature. We’ll be organising professional nature and bat walks throughout the season led by Wildlife Experts from Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust. Check out when our guided walks are scheduled.

You’ll also find Herts & Middlesex Wildlife Trust activities in our barn where you can pick up a Nature Diary and Scavenger Hunt egg box to explore our 150-acre estate. Collect natural items of different textures and shapes and log what you saw and found in your Nature Diary.

On our grounds, you can spot bees, moths, herons, red kites, hedgehogs, hares, field mice, shrews and voles, plus wildflowers, plus fish and pond skaters - and there have even been rumours that an Otter has been spotted in our lake!

We should never take nature for granted. There has been a massive decline in bees and wildflowers across the country. We’re aware that these creatures may not feature in childhood memories of the future.

That’s why we have chosen to collaborate with Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust, to create a joint effort to protect the precious land our ancestors have lived on for over 400 years.
